Workers Memorial Day 2020

Colleagues

In addition to the 11 o’clock minutes silence, tomorrow we will mark “Workers Memorial 2020” albeit in a very different way.

This year is particularly important given the current global COVID 19 pandemic. Many public and community service workers are putting their lives at risk in the delivery of emergency essential services for our communities, vulnerable and infirm.

UNISON places the health, safety and wellbeing at the forefront of our representations and negotiations, that is why we have been pursing at the highest level of government the issue of PPE, its availability and guidance.

The branch will lay a wreaths (in accordance with social distancing rules) @

12.30pm             Renfrew Memorial Cairn – Robertson Park (wreath laying only)

1.00pm               Paisley Renfrewshire House Flag Poles – (wreath Laying and UNISON Renfrewshire facebook Live) Lorna Glover, Branch Health & Safety Officer

9.00pm               We asking that a candle is placed in your home window for those who have fallen during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Thanks

Mark Ferguson

Branch Secretary
