As we come to the end of 2020 I wanted to convey my sincere thanks to all our members for your tremendous response during the pandemic. You have undoubtedly help save thousands of lives and continued to provide our local services throughout, often going way beyond your normal roles and under very different conditions.

I hope the majority of you will be able to get some time to relax over the festive period, however I would ask that you remember your fellow colleagues who will be continuing to provide essential services throughout. It is events like this that highlights how important Local Governments contribution is to the communities we serve and let’s hope this is recognised in the coming months, and in particular a fair funding settlement.

UNISON will continue to be available to members throughout the festive period (please see attached details). In addition myself and Stephen Hicks, Branch Officer will be on hand to deal with any urgent matters over the entire period.

I would like to also thank all of our Branch Officers, Staff and Stewards who have worked hard providing advice/assistance/representation to our members.

The branch is already preparing for the year ahead and please continue to look out for our regular briefings and updates.

I am proud to be your Branch Secretary and fully respect the work you do day in-day out please stay safe, healthy and fit (please follow all the guidance for your safety and that of others).

Finally, I would like to wish you and your family all the very best over the festive period and let’s hope 2021 will be a better year as we transition out of the pandemic.
