UNISON MEMBERS – CHRISTINA MCANEA ELECTED FIRST WOMAN GENERAL SECRETARY

Colleagues

I am delighted to announce that Christina McAnea has been elected as UNISON’s new General Secretary.

Christina McAnea elected UNISON general secretary

Christina was born and raised in Drumchapel, worked as a Housing Officer for Glasgow City Council before embarking in her trade union career.

I was very proud to have played a significant role in her Campaign Strategic Group and our own branch nominated her to become our first Woman General Secretary, the first Woman elected to this position in the top five trade unions in the Country.

Christina has agreed to attend and speak at one of our forthcoming Annual General Meetings (meeting TBC) taking place on 17th & 18th February 2021 @ 12.00noon & 5.00pm each day.

Please look out for further details about the AGM and request your ticket through the Eventbrite link.

Thanks

Mark Ferguson

Branch Secretary
