UNISON Scotland’s Local Government Committee has met this week to decide how we should take forward our pay campaign for those members covered by Scottish Joint Council (Red Book), following the rejection of the employers offer.
UNISON will co-ordinate industrial action ballots with the other joint trade unions across the 32 Local Council’s – this will be a disaggregate ballot involving specific groups to achieve maximum impact.
UNISON Renfrewshire will consider balloting the following groups of staff employed by Renfrewshire Council: Facility Management Operatives (incl. Snrs), Specific Business/Admin Support Functions, Criminal Justice and Waste. – Members in these areas will receive separate communications form us including FAQ’s and virtual meetings. Members being asked to take selective action will be supported to do so.
This is a national dispute and ALL MEMBERS are called upon to support the selected groups who are being asked to carry out industrial action and support the wider campaign.
I would urge ALL MEMBERS to ensure we have accurate updated personal details – you can check and update these details using the following link:
Our members have responded tremendously to the COVID 19 pandemic and without which many more lives would have been lost. Thousands of Local Government Workers did not get the £500 Scottish Government Reward Payment and our employers have done nothing to financially reward any of their workforce, including reimbursing those who incurred additional costs such as home working.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – WE ARE WORTH MORE!
Please encourage your colleagues not yet in a trade union to JOIN UNISON – Join UNISON and get essential cover
Further information will be issued in due course.
